Spanish airline collapse leaves 20000 stranded

www.euronews.net The collapse of Spanair, Spain’s fourth largest airline, has stranded far more than 20000 men and women in Europe and Africa. As Spanair filed for bankruptcy following grounding its fleet on Friday, passengers tried to discover option flights. Other airlines have stepped in to assist. But for 4000 or so direct and indirect Spanair workers, extended-term misery looms. They face joining the ranks of Spain’s a lot more than five million jobless.

I don’t understand. I’ve been on spanair numerous times in the last couple of years, and all the aircraft were packed with paying passangers!
